This is my first written journal entry. I hope you won't mind my not exactly perfect english grammar.
Not many people will see this journal, because I am not very active on my deviantart account, because here I prefer enjoying works of others. But I want to write about this topic anyway.
As to start with, I must say, I am not a good photographer. To precise it I am quite a miserable one, mostly taking photographs with my not very smart phone. But when I travel I like to help myself memorising beautiful places or things that inspire me, with taking pictures with the camera. Otherwise, I am more of a traditional artist, but I like to take my motifs for drawings or paintings from photographs. I submit some of my photos on deviantart so that I would receive a feedback on them. I don't submit a lot of my traditional art, because I think or it is not good enough or I consider it more personal. But I also found out, that paintings are not really appropriate, photographs and digital art stand out better in the web context. So you can see some of my school work in my scrapbook.
Below we have two pictures: the first is the moment of the world that I perceived and caught it with the camera and the second one is the same photo, but modified in photoshop.
So, which one you think is better? Do you like the real plain picture or the more unreal photo? I love photoshop, it is a great program and it is so useful, but I am here asking for your personal opinon or philosophy of that topic. I must also say, that I really exaggerated the contrast in the other picture, normally I would keep it more realistic. So I woud like to ask you also if you can help me, how should I improve my photoshop skills, how would you modify this photograph?
I also want to expose that the photo was taken with not the best quality camera, so that is all that I know to do with it.
I must say I admire the professional photographers who can make an extraordinary image without modifing it. I think the true masters were the old ones, who made such awesome results without knowing digital technology.
I think in some cases photoshop is cheating, because you lack photographic skills. But it is also true that photoshop can be another tool to personalize the picture and for some results that you want to achieve it is necessary. What do you think?
I hope I made myself understood and that is all of my annoying for now...
Cheers from Slovenia!
